Anti Streptolysin O Titres (ASO)

If you have been infected by Streptococcus bacteria, they produce a harmful enzyme in your body called Streptolysin-O which leads to an antibody response. An elevated titre of ASO means that it is likely that the person has recently had a bacterial streptococcal infection.
