Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious bacterial disease that mainly affects your lungs but can affect every organ of your body. TB germs spread from person to person when you cough or sneeze. If your immune system is strong, you may not develop any symptoms though the bacteria are present in your body. This is called Latent / Inactive TB. If your immune system is weak, you can develop symptoms of TB such as coughing for more than 3 weeks, blood in your sputum, chest pain, weight loss, fever, night sweats & loss of appetite. You are at a high risk of suffering from TB if you have AIDS/HIV, use IV drugs, come in contact with TB patients, health workers, live in a country with high incidence of TB. This test measures the immune response of a person to TB bacteria.
