eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate)

Creatinine is a chemical compound left over from energy producing processes in your muscles. Healthy kidneys filter creatinine out of the blood & it exits your body as a waste product in urine. Measure of creatinine in your blood can also estimate how quickly the kidneys filter blood called Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR). Blood creatinine levels vary from person to person, hence GFR provides a more accurate assessment of kidney function.
