Folate / Folic acid also called vitamin B9 is important for red blood cell formation & for healthy functioning of your body. It is crucial during early pregnancy to reduce the risk of birth defects of brain & spine in the fetus. Folate is found mainly in green leafy vegetables, beans, peas & nuts. Fruits rich in folates are oranges, lemons, bananas, melons & strawberries.
