Measles (Rubeola) IgG Antibody

Measles (Rubeola) is a childhood viral infection causing a red blotchy rash that appears first on the face & behind the ears. It later spreads to chest, back & feet. Symptoms usually appear 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever, dry cough, sore throat, spots in the mouth & skin rash. Measles can also affect pregnant women & people with poor immunity. Measles vaccination has contained the disease to a large extent. This test measures the IgG antibodies against the virus which indicates past exposure to the virus or good immunity following vaccination.
