Troponin – I

Troponin-I is a protein in your body which is released into the blood when your heart muscle gets damaged. This is seen when you suffer from heart attack. The more damage there is to the heart muscle, the greater is the amount of Troponin-I in the blood. It rises 3-6 hours after the heart attack & remains high upto 5-9 days. It does not rise in non-heart muscle damage. Thus it is a more sensitive test.
